Whats this need?

Detail of weaving project.  Summers scarf, silk shirt, 70's polyester shirt and the one she gave me.

Detail: White Rice that smells like recent laundry detergent, Vintage black lace, J.Crew, the one she gave me (or did I claim it?)

Detail: One of the shirts from the last months.

Its coming along slowly...a couple shirts a day.

I have been working at this daily and it is a very slow process.  I suppose in the slow process without a clear end in sight I hear all the questions and watch the thoughts move in and out of the ropes.  "What am I doing?"  "Why am I special?" "How many ways can I see Summer?" "Wow, it takes so long." "This is stupid, I am stupid."  "Should this become something else?"  "Is what I'm making just this?"  "What is this?"  "This is hard"  "I don't want to let her clothes become something else."  "I don't want her to be gone."

I also knitted a scarf this week and started hand built coil pots....hand meditations, physical thoughts, touching the Autumn sadness, making something, being it.

First day back to school and back to studio!!!!!

Hurray!!!  My sons first day back to school means my first day back to the studio!!!!!!!  I am so ready and excited to begin working a regular studio schedule.  My studio practice is starting where I most love to begin-outdoors.  I have been inspired to build an outdoor loom of sorts and weave everything together (neither of which I have ever done-another favorite thing of mine, try something I have no idea how to do!)....when my son came home from school he asked me "What are you making?"  I said "A sculpture." S: "But of what?  What is it supposed to be?" M: "I don't know yet." S: "Your supposed to know, artists need to think too and know what they are doing." M:"I am thinking, I just don't know yet what it will become......

I love interweaving my ideas with reality, mixing baby lamb fur, wood, grandma's yarn, lace shirt, pink shirt, shadows, sunlight, grass, birdsong, rope, rythm.....present moment, past moment, becoming.

All in a days work below.

Sunny off to school!  He caught a bullfrog-that's a good omen

Built it!

The best part of working with nature is having the chance to feel these little fibers between your fingers while examining the incredible designs from bug eaten wood, you just feel jealous about how good these bug drawings are!

Working my handmade bark waft wrapped in Grandma's yarn that comes from her loom days.

How fun it was to notice the design of the yellow mirroring the grass shadows while I went back and forth.

A little bit of everything

New Work and ongoing...

"Remember.."
2 paintings each at 48" x 54"
Acrylic Paint, Chalk, Oil Crayon, Bleach on Polyester Blend Fabric

Detail of paintings

Paintings in the studio
Painting in process, drying outside (I love this picture-and when I was at this stage in the painting-this window in to the sky helped inspire the final painting)

This was a beautiful view that I had to pull over and be with for a moment.

Me and my friend Melorah Kuhn took a walk to see my installation, which no longer hangs! I found a note instead and am deciding do I call?

And lost graveyard #3 has been added to my map.

A day that doesn't happen often

I have created a new installation that is currently available to observe at the Germantown Nature Conservancy in upstate NY.

I have been envisioning this piece in various forms at this location for over a year but yesterday the pieces all came together and just like the year-I leaped in to action.  I am pleased.  This Video is from my walk today.

I am waiting for the title to become clear and in fact I don't have much to say about what the piece is exactly.  Its five "dress-up" dresses half-way hanging on a clothing line and half-way underground (or buried) in a spacious hidden field.  The strange part for me is that it makes sense without having the defintion of what that sense is.

Starching the Victor Costa to be hung to dry

I am excited to watch this piece these next couple days.
