Sea Isle Sketch's

Sea Isle
11" x 14" (Each)
Mixed Medium on Paper

These are three sketch/paintings of looking out at the islands in my memory of both Ireland as well as Deer Isle. I am really looking forward to my new studio so that I might be able to expand the sizes of my work. I feel like my work is so physical that it needs to be felt by the entire body (both mine and the viewer). I want to swing my arms to their fullest expansion, I want the colors and textures to wrap themselves around the body, and that your eyes move with the current of the painting...we shall see.

Who knows, I may continue to do small works?

Landscape Sketching

Field Sketch
11" x 14"
Mixed Medium on Canvas

These two small landscape painting/sketches are both are done on canvas. The field was done "plein air" style, but was aborted when my oils melted, and my fear of lyme disease became overwhelming, and the sweat dripping from my forehead was mixing the colors!
I'm scheming ways in which I can paint and draw, here on foreign grounds with fleeting free minutes between cooking. Not to mention I forgot to pack normal paint colors, like dark green??? Ooops!
Beach Sketch
8" x 10"

Summer Greens

These are three paintings/drawings I've done recently...obviously I am being influenced by my surrounding colors, and textures.

In order from top to bottom:
1. Yellow Fields
12" x 12"
Mixed Medium on wood

2. Gianni's View
2' x 3'
Mixed Medium on Wood
* My Husband has the most beautiful view from his workshop, and he always says its like looking at my paintings, especially when he sees it through the framed window. When I see it I see my paintings too, the ones I really want to make!
( Excuse the easel photo, Yikes!)

3. Cows in the Field
9" x 12"
Oil on Paper
* This was a a little sketch I did in "Plein Air", that was sooooooooo fun, sitting in the environment, feeling it, and watching it move. The sketch is so humble and tiny compared to the magnificence of the day!

Lastly, this is photo I took last week at the Hamptons. Its kind of cool, because I am beginning to see what I see...if that makes sense.

Wait, really lastly, the Gallery848 ( North Sea Road, South Hampton, NY) is hosting an open house this Saturday. If anyone missed the opening last weekend, please check it out tommorow! Such a cute gallery, and in those big windows are my big ocean paintings!

Landscape sketches..2/5-2/11

So, this week I explored some new mediums, and I also did some quicky-sketches of incredible landscapes I witnessed and had to jot down. Sometimes, I look around me and just laugh at the crazy abstraction of this landscape! The other day, when I saw the river frozen, it was like looking at miles of quartz crystals, and in the sky, god sent two neon orange clouds floating by the velvet blue ribbons of mountains...starkly scratched with ink black tree lines! I also, am loving the glaring metallic ice, that shimmers through the black trees....nature/life is amazing!
In addition to the tomato's, and these three sketches, I completed two "Portfolio" pieces, two large scale paintings. I will only be showing my "portfolio" pieces on my website, (www.dawnbreezepaintings.com) and I will only post sketch book, process and practice paintings on this blog. I like the idea of defining the two web locations and I will update all you subscribers when I post a new painting to my website. (Which I've just done!) I will be going on a little vacation to sunny southern California tomorrow, so i will not be posting for a week...but when i get back, I'm sure I'll be full of refreshed colors and creative energy!

1. Starry Sky 9" x 12" Mixed Medium on Canvas
2. Neon Clouds 15" x 16" Mixed Medium on Paper
3. Citrus Grass 15" x 16" Mixed Medium, Encaustic, on Paper
* All three of these have reflective metallic paint, that is not visible in these photos
