ARTspace reopens with plant Magic dust, solo show by Dawn Breeze

In its new venue  ARTsapce is pleased to announce plant Magic dust, a solo exhibition of work by Dawn Breeze, opening May 24th, 2014.  The gallery is now located at 71 Palatine Road in Germantown.

The body of work exhibited in plant Magic dust demonstrates Breeze’s continual fascination with interwoven connections of thought, time, place, transformation and materials as subject.  Using materials such as plastic, cloth, dirt and plants, Breeze embraces the importance of the materials she is using, and considers their story as well.  This reciprocal relationship to materials is key to Breeze’s work as a Process Artist. She might consciously choose the materials she is working with, but the relationship with them evolves as she plays with and nurtures them. Breeze encourages the materials to tell their story.  “…I want to ask it: are you paint, are you minerals, are you flowers, are you death, are you life, are you a hot day in Africa, how can I appreciate and honor you?”

Curated by Sarah Bachelier the exhibition title plant Magic dust was chosen as homage to the poem with the same title written by E.E. Cummings.

plant Magic Dust will open on Saturday, May 24th and run to June 15th.  A reception will be held on the 24th  from 5-7.

ARTspace is located at 71 Palatine Road, No 7, Germantown, NY 12526.
