Sea Isle Sketch's

Sea Isle
11" x 14" (Each)
Mixed Medium on Paper

These are three sketch/paintings of looking out at the islands in my memory of both Ireland as well as Deer Isle. I am really looking forward to my new studio so that I might be able to expand the sizes of my work. I feel like my work is so physical that it needs to be felt by the entire body (both mine and the viewer). I want to swing my arms to their fullest expansion, I want the colors and textures to wrap themselves around the body, and that your eyes move with the current of the painting...we shall see.

Who knows, I may continue to do small works?

Dawn Breeze Painting Studio

I have a new fabulous SUPER fabulous painting studio/commercial studio/viewing room/project-dream space/idea room...and more!!!!
It is at 722 Warren st. Hudson NY 12534, with big gallery windows, and space for me and you...and I will have the doors open this Saturday for my first open studio! I cannot wait to move in! I have my own bathroom ( complete w/ a medicine cabinet and window...it makes me very happy!) There is so much goodness in this space I am over wrought with enthusiasm to be playing in this room of my own. Virginia Wolf was quoted for saying every creative woman needs a room of their own, and now I have one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It feels like a canvas...I am bubbling with ideas of what to do with it.
I think my favorite aspect of having had a store was creating space, environments that were interactive...but this is so much cooler because the intention isn't to sell something, its all just going to be fun, and about creating something. Soooooo, with that said I am also really anxious to be in there creating and painting! This is a dream come true:)

Breaking Wave

Breaking Wave
6" x 8"
Mono print, Mixed Medium, Encaustic

This is experimenting with layers, I have been really interested in whats behind and beneath the surface, which I have been exploring in the last couple paintings. The first photo is of the piece against a wall the second is in front of the window, because there's transparency to allow light to move. The other fun thing about this piece is it can change all the time because there is a moving part in the center.
And VERY exciting news is that this Friday I will be signing a lease on a new studio!!!!!!!!:) I will post the address and info after I have officially signed!!!Yippi!

Irish Sea

This is a larger drawing/finger painting
3ft x3ft, mixed medium on paper.
Did you know I mostly fingerpaint...I don't use brushes too often.
I saw a bunch of real Monet paintings yesterday. I am so inspired by the process of painters, their evolution. Through their dedication to their practice, a true essence emerges, that is so powerful yet delicate and fragile that it seems to take many layers of paintings and time to feel safe/bold enough to come out. That is my goal...to uncover the truest essence of my painting...so I must play, practice, paint, and follow the divine lead with every mark.
PS. Its been over a year that I have been posting, its really interesting to go back in the blog archives and see my posts from last September at this time!

Three Days of Drawing

These are three drawings done in the past three days...all are 20" x 20", mixed medium on paper. They are just practice, playing...getting some insides out. Its happy and hard to be home after 2.5 months, I want to jump into my art, but am also terrified to start. So, these little daily pieces seem to be a friendly warm up excersize.
