Feelings of Ireland 2

When I looked at my painting again today, I realized the 130 degree heat yesterday had gone to my head, and must of allowed me to think it was the right time to stop...but when I saw it this morning I realized there was more....

Feelings of Ireland

Feelings Of Ireland 30" x 24" Oil, Mixed Medium on Wood

This is painting is combining different pieces of Ireland from my mind and memory. The sky was always blustery, gray and green filled my visual space and there were beautiful magenta bell flowers. I love Ireland! Soon I will download my pictures, and share some on this blog...but I just know my photos will not be able to show the vastness and intense variation in height and space that makes the Irish landscape so mezmorizing.

The First Giraffe

The First Giraffe
12" x 12"
Mixed Medium on Wood

This is actually the first giraffe painting I did a couple days back, I just didn't post it. ( My friend Mary swooped this one up!!!)

And below is a little sketch I did of the sunset I watched on my drive home yesterday. I am so excited I am about to go to Ireland, tomorrow I'll be in another country!!!!! Isn't that weird that we can literally be transported to another country in 6hrs???? I will be doing sketches over there, and filling my brain with new images, I am soooo excited. I like sketching what I see from memory, because when I do, its like revisiting the initial moments, and experiencing all the specialness over again.

So, off I go! I'll post again in two wks! Yippi!!

Crack In The Wall

Crack In The Wall
15" x 22"
Mixed Medium on Paper

Another illustration of an idea....these past two daily paintings/drawings are different for sure. ( Personally they remind me a little of highschool, which is ok since that just signifies an exploring mind) I like this freedom to explore ideas right now. Also, its really true that just by actively drawing/painting one idea develops the next, even when it doesn't always appear that way. Its interesting to watch.

Out my window

Out my window
15" x 22"
Mixed Medium on Paper

"Out my window I see nature, god, beauty...but I'm thinking about extinction"

This is an illustration of a visual thought that I've had in my head for a week and half. I keep looking out windows, and in my minds eye I see dinosaurs running by...part hilarious and partially a delicate tragedy, that feels ominous.

This was fun to do a daily painting again, especially just to illustrate a thought, and using some older techniques.

Somewhere cloudy

Somewhere Cloudy
2' x 3'
Oil on Wood

I've been working on this painting, and still need to finish a few corrective details, but I have to wait till it dries more. I almost completly ruined it twice today, but luckily it had a strong base that survived a glue rub down, falling on the floor, and a few more accidents...of course accidents happen only after I was supposed to stop, but just couldn't pull myself away in time!!

Cloudy Sky, Windy Field

Cloudy Sky, Windy Field
2' x 3'
Oil on Wood

I love painting landscapes from imagination. Its like cooking for me, in the sense that I don't follow recipes, I just use ingredients I like and follow what tastes good to me as I go. My mind is like a pantry, stocked with visual and emotional information, my mediums are my spices, and my brushes are my tools. And sometimes I need to go to the all natural grocery store and re-stock!

Summer Greens

These are three paintings/drawings I've done recently...obviously I am being influenced by my surrounding colors, and textures.

In order from top to bottom:
1. Yellow Fields
12" x 12"
Mixed Medium on wood

2. Gianni's View
2' x 3'
Mixed Medium on Wood
* My Husband has the most beautiful view from his workshop, and he always says its like looking at my paintings, especially when he sees it through the framed window. When I see it I see my paintings too, the ones I really want to make!
( Excuse the easel photo, Yikes!)

3. Cows in the Field
9" x 12"
Oil on Paper
* This was a a little sketch I did in "Plein Air", that was sooooooooo fun, sitting in the environment, feeling it, and watching it move. The sketch is so humble and tiny compared to the magnificence of the day!

Lastly, this is photo I took last week at the Hamptons. Its kind of cool, because I am beginning to see what I see...if that makes sense.

Wait, really lastly, the Gallery848 ( North Sea Road, South Hampton, NY) is hosting an open house this Saturday. If anyone missed the opening last weekend, please check it out tommorow! Such a cute gallery, and in those big windows are my big ocean paintings!
