Another of the sky and beach dunes. I see landscapes as stripes of color with different textures and thin layers, that define the particular elements.Dunes and Sky
10" x 10"
Mixed Medium on Canvas
This small painting is inspired by the sky and dunes of Martha's Vineyard. When I was there this past weekend, I drove around to look at the ocean, and I experienced a strange phenomena. I was really looking to be inspired by ocean, and i would gaze out towards the waves, the vast magnificent sparkly ocean, but as soon as I turned a complete 180, and saw the sky and the dunes, that's what greatly inspired me. So, this painting is a memory of that...but I did take some photos and am excited to see what I captured there too.Have an inspired day!

More portraits from this weekend...
1.Moms Gaze 20" x 24" Oil on Paper 2.Moms Thoughts 20" x 24" Oil on Paper

These are two portraits of I did this weekend, I visited my family, and begged my Mom and Sister to let me draw them. I really feel so excited right now by this new mentality I've adopted towards my "drawing"...which is doing what FEELS good, and its physical, not just cerebral.

Surprise! I just wanted to show you my nudes...I am going to life drawing once a week, and I'm beginning
to get it...the more I forget it, the more I get it, the more I let go, the more I get it...

Trees and Snow At Night
10" x 10"
Mixed Medium on Canvas
This painting is really hard to photograph, as its got a lot of iridescent colors, and high contrast...with your minds eye, add a little more purple to the sky and sparkly to the snow, and shiny ice on the trees...now you see the painting!
Winter Willow Tree 10" x 10" Mixed Medium on Canvas
This was my favorite thing I saw on my morning walk...followed by the birds nests in the bare trees...but now its snowing like a blizzard out, which is currently at this precise moment what is my favorite thing that I'm looking at.
California Mountains 9" x 12" Oil on Paper I'm back...well, I havn't gone anywhere except off the deep end of experimenting, which none of it is truly successful yet, just lots of learning and fun! That being said, I've really missed the very doable small daily paintings, which I started last July, just like this...every day oil on paper. Then they became something else...rather then studies they became "show" paintings, which took me away from the simpleness of these little guys. But now I think, its time to bring them back. I realize that they help filter my creative brain, and help me also have a sense of small daily accomplishment, which is more valuable on a daily basis than anything else. Also, I have learned that these actually need to come at the end of my more challenging painting day...it seems that my energy is highest in the beginning, so that great energy does need to go towards "show" paintings...but I'm going to save a little of it for these babies!
This is an experimental process, again. But the image is an illustration of the beautiful trees against the melting snow, and billowing fog.Trees in Melting Snow Fog
